Korea has been multiplying FTAs for last 30 years and it will soon have FTAs with most of the developed and developing countries. The amazing fact is that Korea has established FTAs with the three largest trade blocs in the world : ASEAN, the European Union and the United States. However, the most historically significant, economically important and politically strategic FTA is the trilateral China-Japan- Korea FTA. This study tries to find answers to the following questions. How does the trilateral FTA allow Korea to redefine its relationship with China and Japan ? Can it help solving the North-South conflict in Korea ? What are the economic benefits for Korea ? Can it facilitate the Chaebol reform ? What kind of leadership role which Korea can play in it ?
