DESCRIPTION

North American economic integration continues to shape both national and transnational contentious political behavior amongst civil society actors in Canada, the United States and Mexico. This book provides an original contribution to the debate over North American integration, which has focused largely on the economic costs and benefits of integration. Yet, with the recent passing of the 15th anniversary of NAFTA, and in the midst of increasingly rancorous debate over the merits of “deepening” North American integration through the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP), we still have much more to learn about those patterns of contentious collective action and protest that continue to target North American states, actors and policies. This timely contribution is the result of a genuinely transnational collaboration between leading specialists on national and transnational contentious politics from Canada, the United States and Mexico.
